Anthea Harrington
Anthea Harrington was born in Windsor, New South Wales. After graduating from The University of Newcastle Conservatorium with Honours in 1998, Anthea spent several years in the UK working as a freelance musician and music educator for The Music House for Children and Bush Hall Ltd. in London. During this time, she was also a member of the pop/rock band Royal Treatment Plant, both recording and touring with the band until 2006.
After returning to Newcastle in 2012, Anthea worked as a singing teacher for the Australian Dance & Talent Centre and the Hunter Valley School of Music. She is currently a vocal teacher at Newcastle Grammar School and Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College. Anthea also maintains a busy performance schedule, appearing in several concerts and productions, most recently with Opera Hunter, The Barbarians Orchestra, Central Coast Chorale, The Blue Mountains Orchestra & Musical Matinees Inc.
Anthea is currently undertaking a Master of Teaching at the University of Newcastle. She also manages the Newcastle-based vocal ensemble Cantabo. With a broad experience of both performing and teaching a variety of musical styles, including classical, musical theatre, jazz & rock/pop, Anthea is passionate about passing her skills and knowledge on to the next generation of young singers.
