Elizabeth Todd Scholarship

In Memory of Geoffrey Parsons

The Elizabeth Todd Lieder Prize in Memory of Geoffrey Parsons was established to promote the performance of Lieder, and is open to voice and piano students of both members and non-members of the Music Teachers’ Association of NSW.

Both singer and pianist will be judged conjointly on their performance, and must present two works of contrasting styles from the works of Schumann, Brahms, Wolf, Strauss, Mahler or Schubert. The songs must be performed in the German language. Entrants must be aged under 35 years as at 31 December 2022. Previous winners of the scholarship are ineligible to enter.

A Festival of Art Song

The finals will be held at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Bridge St, Sydney, on the 2nd of October, and will be showcased as part of “The Festival of Art Song,” which will run from 29 September to 2 October 2022.

Preliminary Round

A video performance to be submitted by 11.59pm, 29th August, consisting of the two pieces as described above. The total time limit for the entire performance is 10 minutes.

Final Round

Three finalists chosen from the Preliminary Round will present their two pieces in a public performance. Scores must be provided for the Adjudicators.

The prize will be $2000, to be shared equally between the winning vocalist and pianist.
