Sherry Hsiao
Dr. Sherry Hsiao is Artistic Director and founder of the Sydneysider Music Academy and lead violinists and Pianists. She has established an international reputation for her compelling teaching performances and artistic individualism. She has over 25 years extensive teaching experiences wide variety of orchestra, public and private school to college and adult students. She teaches examination technique classes, and masterclass and piano ensembles to chamber orchestra.
Sherry began her classical music studies since age five in her hometown of Yuan-Lin, Taiwan at the Junior High School of Music Junior department, where she won an outstanding achievement prize in the Youth Piano Competition, and Tainan University of Technology of Music and Orchestra in Taiwan, and Soochow University of Music and Orchestra in Taiwan, then Morehead State University of Music and Pedagogy in USA, where she was awarded the Outstanding Music Honour Awards as the top graduate violinist in 2001,and University of Kentucky of Music in USA , where she was awarded the BIACS Memorial Prize as the top graduate violinist of Doctoral of Musical Studies in 2003, and numerous prizes from music scholarship and competitions all around in USA & Taiwan.
As professional musician, Sherry has appeared with philharmonic Orchestra worldwide of Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra in USA, Lucca Symphony Orchestra in Italy, Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan, Taipei Civic Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan, and all the major Australian community symphony orchestra, most recently as the Guest Concertmaster - Phoenix Artis Philharmonic Orchestra.
Sherry is also the composer of the score for Strings Program and Ensemble Performance and her numerous arrangements, compositions and transcriptions have expanded the string orchestra repertoire and been performed through the world. She is also the author of a series of violin book and Duo book.
In addition, Sherry is the Artist Conductor and Mentor for the several education ensembles Artist program of the Youth Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan, USA and Australia, from1996 has appointed as Director and Leader for several educations’ ensembles performance touring and education ensemble collective. In 2020 Sherry was appointed as the Artist Director Conductor of Nan Tien Temple Symphony Youth Orchestra, subsequently Harmony Symphony Youth Orchestra.
Sherry also holds major international music educations credits and certificates of Dalcroze Euthythmic, Orff Schulwerk, and Suzuki Method. Sherry believes that as music educator and as orchestra musician can work hand in hand. She loves to custom designs lessons to both piano and violin students, such as conforms to ergonomic posture structure and the beauty sound of musicality skills for student needs.
With her varied worldwide music insight and the beauty of musical art appreciation, Sherry hopes to inspire more young generations to believe in their dreams and to change the world with harmony by their best efforts in music.
